5 Day Tour

A 5 Day tour of the North of Ireland can be an amazing way to experience the best of what this region has to offer, from its rich history to its beautiful natural landscapes.

Ireland is a beautiful island with a rich history and heritage culture.

This Tour will include a mixture of Hillwalking, the Troubles and Spiritual Connections as well as, the regular full commentary about our history, culture and traditional customs.

The itinerary starts in Dublin and returns there from Donegal.

Day One

St Brigid's Cross, Faughart, Co Louth

St. Brigid's Shrine & Slieve Gullion

Travelling from Dublin to the border with Northern Ireland,

We visit St Brigid’s Shrine at Faughart. A place of unusual peacefulness and healing. Associated with the main female early christian saint in the country and the traditional cross woven from rushes, still found in many homes.

In the afternoon, we will walk to the top of Slieve Gullion,

at the centre of the volcanic ring dyke of Gullion where the highest passage grave in Ireland is found at the Calliagh Beara’s House, amongst outstanding scenery.

This will provide an appetite, if one is needed, for the food experience at your accommodation in the Killeavy Castle Estate.

Day Two

Three Belfast landmarks in one shot. From left to right: Titanic Belfast, a museum for all things Titanic related; the very large Harland and Wolffe ship building crane Goliath; and immediately below it, the red bricked building where the Titanic was designed by Harland and Wolff prior to its fateful end in 1912 (May, 2019).. We make our way to the historic City of Belfast,

where we visit the award-winning Titanic exhibition and take a short tour around the places of interest around the city.

Leaving Belfast, we travel north along the Antrim Glens coastal route and visit the beautiful Giants Causeway. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to a unique formation of hexagonal columns formed by ancient volcanic activity.

Overnight, is at the Bushmills Inn,

which was originally a Coach Inn in the 1600’s where peat fires still burn and the village itself is home to the world’s oldest licensed whiskey distillery.

Day Three

Derry tour Northern Ireland

Driving west along the Causeway Coast,

past castles and sandy beaches brings us to Derry where you can learn the city’s fascinating history rich culture on a walking tour of the ancient City Walls with a local guide.

Afterwards, we cross the border again into Donegal

where we will explore the ancient and mystical Gríanán of Áileach hillfort.

From there, we make our way through the Glenveagh National Park and Dunlewey where we walk the new path to the top of Errigal, voted Ireland’s most Iconic Mountain by Ireland’s hillwalking community.

Day Four

Slieve League in Donegal

Spectacular cliff views from Slieve League, amongst the highest sea cliffs in the country will kick start the day.

and Studio Donegal in the little West Donegal village of Kilcar is a seemingly intangible part of this indigenous craft using wool spun in the locality, by Donegal Yarns just around the corner, also in Kilcar.

In the afternoon, once more over the border, this time into Fermanagh,

where the craft of pottery creation at its finest is found in the Belleek Pottery, which has held a very special place in Ireland’s cultural and commercial heritage since 1857.
